I have always loved the challenge of transforming a blank piece of paper into a drawing or painting with meaning and emotional ties to my vision.  The act of creating has been the theme of my life. Fortunately I was educated at the University of Minnesota in the School of Architecture and Design, a school that stressed DESIGN.  While attending I took art classes, quickly learning there is DESIGN in art as well as architecture.  During my 50 year career as an architect I had to create within the boundaries allowed me by my clients, their budget and Building Codes.  As I earned my living as an architect I continued to paint to enjoy the freedom of making art without the constraints imposed by my profession.

I retired from architecture in 2020 and now concentrate my time on making and teaching art. The University of Rochester's Memorial Art Gallery has a Creative Workshop program that runs year round with Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter sessions.  The program offers a wide variety classes including various levels of watercolor and several foundational classes.  In between teaching a few times a week, I now focus full-time on my art.
